The Club is thought to be one of the original 12 teams to take part in the Cleveland Challenge Cup in 1885.

The Club won the Cleveland Cricket League in 1939 and again in 1949. In 1948 they were the winners of the Cleveland Challenge Cup.

The original location of the Cricket Ground in New Marske was near to the Yorkshire Lass Pub in the village.

The arrangement that stood for many years was understood to be, as long as there was a Cricket Club in New Marske they could play cricket on that field. Unfortunately the club folded and the ground is now a crop field.

In 1974 a group of local men led by Terry Cox and Tony Greensitt decided to reform the Club.

For a time the Club had a nomadic existence and played its games at a variety of grounds, including Bydales School in Marske and the Wilton ICI recreation ground.

In 1982 the Sports Club was formed in New Marske, with the Cricket Club one of the original sections, and soon afterwards the Cricket Ground was established at its present location.

In 1994 New Marske Cricket Club was sufficiently strong, with a well developed youth system, to form a 2nd Team to provide a team for the players who were too old to play any longer in the junior team. The 1st and only captain of the 2nd Team was Martin Hogarth.

At it’s strongest in the mid 1990’s New Marske Cricket Club had 2 Cleveland League Teams, a Middlesbrough Midweek League Team and 2 Junior Teams.

In 1999 New Marske Cricket Club ‘B’ team won the Berresford Trophy in a Cup Final played at Norton against Cowpen Bewley ‘B’. The man of the match that day was Richard Lightwing. It was the first significant knockout trophy won by New Marske in many years.

Unfortunately a lack of support led to the junior teams closing and consequently the lack of new players coming into the 2nd team led to it closing in 2000.

In July 2002 New Marske Cricket Club won it’s 2nd Major knockout trophy in recent years when they won the Jarvis Cup in a match played at Loftus Cricket Club against Dormanstown. The man of the match was Greg Porrett.

In July 2003 New Marske Cricket Club followed up it’s Jarvis Cup performance of the previous year by retaining the trophy. The match was played once again at Loftus Cricket Club, this time against Loftus ‘B’.

In 2005 New Marske Cricket Club finished runners up in the Jarvis Cup.

In 2006 New Marske finished runners up in the Cleveland Cricket League which was there best finish since they last won the league in 1949.
