Gary Alderson
Midweek Captain
New
Marske Easily saw off Shaws in a heavily one sided affair at New
Marske, New Marske won the toss and put Shaws in to bat, and bowled
them out for 51
In
reply New Marske lost only two wickets in chasing the target in
only 9 overs, with Gary Alderon unbeaten on 17 and Derek Bickerstaff
unbeaten on 19.
With
the new season upon us, the midweek team are hoping to improve
onseason last season in which they were often guilty of uncharateristicaly
throwing games away. Last season was however encouraging for many
reasons, firstly the improvement of many of the younger players.
We
look forward to the new season with many positives, Gary Alderson
is now back bowling at full pace again and will be a welcome addition
to the bowling attack. An influx of quality new players will really
help us in our goal of beating last years fourth place finish.
The
way the players have responded to an elongated series of nets
was very encouraging the turnout was the best we have ebver had
and the general levels of fitness of the team is well ahead of
what it was at the same stage last season.
This
season we welcome five new teams to the league, these teams are
good quality teams and we will have to make sure that we are at
our best and do not take these teams lightly.
On Tuesday we face a trip to Hutton Rudby in the midweek cup.
Players are reminded to meet at the Sports Club at 5:00pm prompt.
I
would like to thank the unsung heros of the team the ground staff
who have put many long hours in over the last few months to get
the pitch into magnificent condition probably the best in the
league
New
Players are always welcome to come along to our practice nets
on a Tuesday Night at 6pm on non match nights at New Marske Sports
Club.
